Hey all! I am excited to report that I have signed with 90210 Talent for commercial representation! They're a passionate bunch and I really believe we'll make an excellent team! Facé and I met last week and, well, you already know the result! Also had the music video I shot over Easter weekend drop this week. I'll include it below. NakNek was a great team to work with and I can wait to see what else Pablo Dazan sings. I really should brush up on some Spanish! Have a watch and let me know what you think :) -m

I love the themes Jamie Hanson comes up with! I've had the pleasure of working with her again as well as with JJ Bentley on some shoots. Jamie's is the 1970's glamour shot (we laughed so much during that shoot!). JJ's look far more normal :) One thing (among many) that I adore about LA is how eager people are to work on projects. I was chatting with someone the other day in a completely casual manner (hooray for new friends) and she pauses and says "This character I've been writing for years... you are her. We need to produce this web series. Stat." And now I've got scripts in my email and we're working out shooting schedules!
I worked with NBC Universal to test out some games they're working on to update a project the other day. Hanging out and improvising is so much fun! I've missed it greatly since moving away from Chicago. Glad to have met some excellent people and spent a day just playing! I've also been in chats with Travel Channel for a potential show that a scheduling conflict pushed back. Not sure if we'll be able to make a later episode work but if it does, then when I can talk about it you will all know! In the mean time though, I find myself in the chilly Midwest for a wedding and the Minnesota State Fair. Ever working though, I'll be shooting some stuff at the state fair for internet publishing. Hopefully I'll have that up in a few weeks! Stay tuned! ~m There are definitely perks to living where the sun is always shining. I find I spend more and more time taking the pup hiking and exploring new trails and coming up with more ideas from every person I meet. Was just skyping with Brittny Congleton this evening and chatting about how we can bring more Mitzi and Bitzi to the world. With any luck we'll be able to use some of the politicking happening lately despite being so many miles from each other. There was even talk of puppets. Granted, I already made a Mitzi puppet :) Got the shots back from the latest photo shoot too. I'll let a few of those speak for themselves. It was one hell of a shoot to participate in. Every person who was involved faced the demons they carry with them and got some stunning and heartbreaking photos from it.
Spent the afternoon with a couple friends at Charles Baker's place chatting producing, projects, BBQs and travel (not necessarily in that order nor always related, but that's the general idea of what we covered). Lovely way to spend the afternoon if you ask me. Plus I got a hug from a kid dressed as Spiderman. I can't complain one bit :) -m This is kind of a follow up to those photos I posted a few days ago, but we shot a music video to go with Jessie J's "Masterpiece" and I wanted to share it with you all now that it's out in the world! Once again, Jamie Hanson is amazing. Let me know what you think!
~m Some of these are the most fun things! The latest was a glitter and color theme and I just wanted to stop in to share a few of my favorites from the session! Had an audition for Disney the other day too! Lots of exciting prospective projects here!
~m Kawasaki shoot was great fun and I can't wait to see what they create from our footage! Rob and I were laughing and having a fantastic time the whole time we were there and managed to get everything they needed in 20 minutes, rather than the three hours they'd booked us for. Nothing like efficiency! We spent a bit of our extra time checking out some beautiful bikes that weren't used in the shoot and chatting web series and the changing format of series thanks to the full season at a time release style of Netflix (though I've noticed they're changing that up recently too!).
Also got back a copy of the finished music video I shot over Easter weekend. It looks beautiful but I can't share it with you just yet. Official release date is later this month and I'll definitely be in touch to share it when I can! In the mean time, I'll be here having fun with photo shoots, my personal projects, and whatever other exciting things come my way! <3 m Hello again friends! The music video shoot went wonderfully. The guys behind NakNek Design are spectacular to work with and I can't wait to see the finished product. We shot in a gorgeous home, rattle snake filled hills (don't worry, we were safe in a truck as the rattlers made us aware of their presence), and filled an old warehouse with smoke as we wandered (and jammed out, if you're Juan).
Been adding to the roster for the webseries and I'm super excited that Ian Abramson has joined the team! He's an excellent stand-up comedian and is going to add so much to the series! Hopefully the release of episode one isn't too far off, but there's still a bit of scheduling to get the rest of the shots then the editing, of course! In other exciting news, I'm working with Kawasaki on a shoot tomorrow morning! They reached out to me over the weekend and I'm so glad our schedules aligned and we can make this shoot happen! Alright, short post today because the sun is out and I have work to do, but I wanted to update you all on my current projects! ~m I'm so happy to say I've hit the ground running here in Los Angeles. We're about one month in and just this morning I had a production meeting about a music video I'm acting in that's shooting Easter Weekend. I always joke that I am perpetually cast as the free spirit and the "Other Woman" but it's true and always fun to play. In this one I'm the "Other Woman" who happens to destroy my sister's marriage. The company filming is great and I just got the track today. It makes me wish I spoke Spanish so I understood it a bit more! Also had a headshot shoot near the end of last week and got the shots back today! Keep an eye on the Studio Shots page, as I'll be uploading more in the coming days but here are a few outtakes that I absolutely love! Jamie was so much fun to shoot with (click on her name to see more of her fabulous work!) and I'm excited to be collaborating with her again this week for a Mad Men themed shoot! I'll have to work out wardrobe for that one tomorrow and I'll be missing Oscar Perez's mad makeup skills, but there will be a bunch of great actors and models there and Jamie's keen eye! We've also begun filming the web series! The scripts are amazing and having a nice camera seems like half the work is done. I guess that leaves me to live up to the potential of this creation! I promise it'll be funny! We've already shot part of the first episode and I can't wait to get going on the rest! I'll be sure to post when it goes live! Okay, logic tells me to go to sleep, but I'm going to leave you with one more photo (because I'm nice like that). Jasmine and I did our shoots together (at our request. Jamie was SUPER accommodating!) and we had a bit of fun at the end of the session grabbing some shots together: <3
Megan After an amazing year in Australia, I am back in the States and working hard! I took December and January to do some serious travel around Australia and managed to do a nice loop and even popped down to New Zealand for a week! I made a lot of new friends and saw brilliant things. Between the laneway cafes of Melbourne, the night dive in Perth, the sheer scenery of Tasmania and New Zealand, and the people I adore in Sydney, I know I have to go back.
Upon my return to the States, I stopped in Chicago for a few days to see as many of my friends there as I could (and some old clients, of course!), then went up to Wisconsin to pick up my dog and as much of my stuff as I could fit in my car, and hit the road for California. I arrived in Los Angeles on Valentine's Day with nowhere to live and no idea how I was going to pay rent, with my savings pretty much empty. But I have friends and a lot of determination :) I spent the first week crashing in the spare room of a friend's cousin out in Riverside. Within the week I'd met two guys who were also friends of friends of friends and we secured a place! I may be sleeping on an air mattress on the floor, but having a place to call my own again is absolutely lovely! I'm happy to report that after less than a month in this city that is known for eating people's dreams, I have a routine I am loving (including weekly hikes in Runyon with the pup!) and have not only booked a gig, but am also creating a webseries with a friend from Chicago. The casting notices can be absolutely awful for women (most of them I am getting right now are for naked dead bodies...) and Megan and I are turning that frustration into a hilarious series. We're still in the early stages of that, so stay tuned! Alright, I'm off to go improvise with some friends. Not a bad way to spend a Thursday night if you ask me :) ~m Lots of projects to update you on, but I'm going to take this blog in a different direction today. Over the weekend the Chicago theatre community was dealt some pretty heavy blows with multiple surprise deaths. One of them, I admit, I did not know, but one was a friend. She was vibrant and loving and one of those people you consider yourself lucky to know. These are only the most recent two deaths in a string of unfortunate losses of this community. My friends are in shock and pain, as am I.
I'm also dealing with this over 9,000 miles from the rest of my grieving friends. That means that most of the hugs and tears are shared through social media and phone calls, rather than in person. It has giving me a strange chance to witness the sheer power of this community and how it really lives up to the claim that the Chicago theatre artists are a family. They've come together in a brilliant show of love and astounding compassion. I can't find the words to describe the sheer power of thousands of messages pouring out all sharing a similar sense of confusion and loss in addition to the joy in the privilege of getting to know Molly. It's a bit overwhelming, but never have I been so convinced that this is a family and even though I don't know everyone in it, I am ever so lucky to be a part of it. This Thursday, I have been told, theatres across Chicago will be dimming their lights for these amazing people. I may not have a theatre here in Sydney to do the same, but I will be lighting a candle |
